The injuries are adding up for the University of Vermont men’s basketball team.

Freshmen Dre Wills (broken finger) and Harrison Taggart (foot) went down with injuries Friday.

With Ryan Pierson, Brendan Kilpatrick and Ethan O’Day already sidelined — plus walk-on Troy Davine departing prior to the start of the regular season — the Catamounts’ depth will once again be tested in Saturday’s game at Bryant.

If Wills and Taggart do not play Saturday, UVM (1-1) will only dress nine players. The freshmen remain day-to-day, Becker said.

“I’m hoping once we get through this stretch we can heal up and get healthy and get some more guys back for the Dec. 15 game,” Becker said.

The Catamounts are opening a seven-game road trip with games at Bryant and then Providence on Monday night.

UVM did release updates on Pierson and Kilpatrick. Pierson should return to the court within 4-to-6 weeks and Kilpatrick recently had surgery on his right foot and is out indefinitely, said Allison Shepherd, UVM’s athletic medicine services director.
